A sheet of waterslide decals from the Polish manufacturer Techmod in 1:72 with the markings of the British single-seat fighter-bomber Hawker Typhoon Mk Ib. The set serves as a replacement for, or an addition to, the decals supplied in the box with a kit. The package holds the decals only; the model and paints are not part of it.
The Hawker Typhoon came about originally as a successor to the Hurricane fighter, but in combat at altitude it did not meet expectations. It made its mark close to the ground instead: thanks to a mighty engine, heavy armament in the wing and the ability to carry bombs or unguided rockets it became one of the most effective machines for attacks on ground targets in western Europe. The Mk Ib version is the most widespread form, which changed gradually during manufacture, among other things in the shape of the canopy and in details of the exhausts and the radiator. That is exactly why with models of the Typhoon it pays to compare the markings chosen with the particular production block of the aircraft.
Before applying the decals, clear-coat the area with a gloss coat; on a matte surface air would be caught under the film and the edges would silver. Cut the motif out close to the print, dip it briefly in lukewarm water and, once it has released from the paper, slide it onto the spot. A decal softener will help the film adhere to the engraved lines and to the transitions on the wing. If you are building the model with the recognition stripes of the day, apply them with paint first and the decals only onto a finished and clear-coated surface. Finally even the sheen out with a matte or semi-matte coat.
The package holds the decals only. The model, glue and paints are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
