Lesher Teal is a plastic kit of a remarkable American experimental record-breaking aircraft in 1:72 scale from the maker Avis.
Responsibility details are not available.
This short-run injection-molded kit captures a machine you will not come across just anywhere in the usual modeling offer. The maker Avis specializes in precisely these less common types, thanks to which collectors can add real curiosities of aviation history to a collection.
The Teal was designed and built by his own hand by Edward Lesher, a professor of aeronautical engineering, in the first half of the 1960s. It was an all-metal single-seat machine of unusual layout with a pusher propeller placed right behind the tail surfaces, built deliberately for breaking international records in the category of the lightest powered aircraft. In the second half of the 1960s its designer really did turn a whole series of record attempts into recorded records with it, and so the diminutive Teal wrote itself into the history of amateur aviation as a demonstration of what a well thought-out design with a small engine can do.
With short-run production, count on a fine clean-up of the parts and a dry test fit before gluing; small gaps will be dealt with by filler and fine sandpaper. The fuselage is best sprayed with an airbrush in thin layers over a base coat, and small details can be finished off with a brush. Glue the transparent parts with a product that leaves no milky marks.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
