ODAB-500 — a set of two resin aircraft bombs in 1:72 scale from the manufacturer Advanced Modeling. An accessory for models of modern Russian combat aircraft, intended for more experienced modelers used to working with resin.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set holds two resin castings of the ODAB-500 series aircraft bomb in 1:72 scale. It is not an aircraft kit but an armament accessory, a pair of stores with which you add to the armament of your model or bring an airfield diorama to life with munitions ready to be loaded.
The ODAB-500 is a family of Soviet and later Russian aircraft bombs in the 500 kg weight class working on the air-fuel explosive principle. After release the bomb disperses a cloud of fuel aerosol, which is then initiated, and the blast wave acts over a large area. Munitions of this type appear on the stores stations of ground attack and bomber aircraft of eastern origin from the 1980s up to current conflicts. On a model it is a prominent and recognizable item of armament with a characteristic rounded body.
Wash the castings in lukewarm soapy water first so that any mold release agent is removed and the paint holds well. Separate the casting blocks with a fine saw or a razor saw and sand the marks down; always protect your airways when sanding resin. Glue the parts with cyanoacrylate glue, as ordinary polystyrene cement will not bond resin. Before painting we recommend a base coat, then the overall shade according to period photographs and a fine wash into the joints of the fins.
An accessory set; the carrier aircraft, glue and paints are not included in the package. The resin parts are intended for more experienced modelers.
