1:72 RAF Roundels type A, A.1, A.2 is a set of self-adhesive vinyl masks from Armycast for spraying British aircraft roundels of type A and its variants in 1:72 scale.

A set of precisely cut self-adhesive vinyl masks in 1:72 scale intended for spraying British aircraft roundels. These are neither decals nor a part of a model: the individual color circles are masked and sprayed one after another, so the finished marking lies directly in the finish. That does away with the carrier film of a decal and with the risk of silvering on a matte surface. Besides the round insignia the set also holds masks for the fin flashes, so the vertical tail surface can be marked as well. The package holds three sheets.
Type A is the basic British roundel made up of a red center, a white ring and a blue outer circle. The A.1 variant has in addition a narrow yellow outer ring and was used above all on the sides of the fuselage, while the A.2 variant differs from the basic type in the proportions of the individual color circles. These insignia belong to the prewar and early wartime period of the Royal Air Force, when machines carried different types of roundel on the upper wing surfaces, on the lower surfaces and on the fuselage. The set covers all three variants at once, so a period-correct combination can be put together for a particular aircraft.
The model has to be smoothly sprayed, degreased and fully cured before masking. Lift the masks off the sheet with tweezers, lay them in place and press the edges down thoroughly, so that no paint runs under the film. Work in layers from the lighter color to the darker one and let each of them dry properly; apply the paint thinly, because a heavy coat leaves a ridge at the edge. Lift the mask off shortly after it has dried, pulling sideways at an angle. A gloss base limits paint creeping under better than a rough matte surface and makes sharp edges on the finished marking easier.
The package holds masking film only. The paints and the model are not included in the package.
