F-117A ADVANCED level kabuki masks, 1:48 are pre-cut New Ware masking parts for the Academy kit. The middle level of the range reaches further than the BASIC variant.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of pre-cut kabuki masks for a 1:48 model of the Lockheed F-117A from the manufacturer Academy. ADVANCED is the middle of the three levels in which New Ware runs this set, alongside the basic BASIC and the most extensive EXPERT. The level sets the range of masking, so ADVANCED reaches further than the basic variant. It is not an aircraft model but a masking accessory to one, and this set is cut specifically for the Academy kit.
The Lockheed F-117A Nighthawk was an American attack aircraft with reduced radar signature. The airframe was made up of flat panels, so-called facets, which deflect the radar signal away from the source. Power came from two turbojets without afterburners and the aircraft carried its weapons in an internal bomb bay. It had no armament for air combat and was sent out mostly at night. It lasted in US Air Force service from the 1980s until 2008.
The parts are die-cut on a carrier film. Lift them with the tip of a scalpel or with tweezers, transfer them to a clean, degreased surface and press the edges down carefully with a toothpick. Spray in thin coats and at lower pressure so that the paint does not run under the edge. On glazing lay the interior color first and only then the outer shade. Lift the mask off shortly after it has dried, while the layer is flexible. The matte faceted surface of the F-117A brings out every unevenness, so give the preparation of the undercoat its time as well.
This is a masking accessory, not a kit. The aircraft model, the paints and the glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
