1:72 JGSDF Bushmaster

Bushmaster of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force 1:72 (Dragon)

A collector's model of the Bushmaster protected wheeled carrier in the markings of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force, in 1:72 scale from the maker Dragon. The model is assembled and painted in production, and nothing on it is glued or sprayed. Mind the distinction: the same vehicle is also made as a classic plastic kit to glue together, while this item is a finished model from the range of collector's models.

The real subject

The Bushmaster is a wheeled vehicle in a 4x4 layout from the class of machines with increased resistance to mines and charges. The shaped hull bottom deflects the blast away from the crew, the high ground clearance increases the distance from the point of the explosion and the armored compartment at the rear serves to carry a detachment. The vehicle is conceived as a protected carrier with a long range for patrol duty, moving personnel and escorting convoys rather than as an infantry fighting vehicle. Besides its country of origin a number of other users have taken it into service; this form carries Japanese markings.

What to expect from a finished model

It is a display piece. The tall hull and the flat roof give the model a strong outline that shows to good effect in a display case, but the small features such as mirrors, antennas and grab handles are delicate. Take hold of the model by the hull and count on a closed display case, because dust is harder to remove from a finished painted surface than from a model you can respray at any time. The color form and the markings are set in production.

Who it is for

• Collectors of modern wheeled vehicles in 1:72 scale.
• Anyone interested in the equipment of the Japanese self-defense forces.
• Those who want a model with no gluing, filling and painting.
• A gift for anyone interested in present-day vehicles who does not build models themselves.

The model is supplied assembled and painted. It is not a kit, and you need neither glue nor paints for it.
