A finished collector's model of the AAVP-7A1 amphibious assault vehicle in the markings of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force, in 1:72 scale from the maker Dragon. The model is assembled and painted in production, so there is no gluing or spraying. It is a collector's model rather than a plastic kit and is meant to be displayed directly.
The AAVP-7A1 is a tracked amphibious vehicle meant to carry a landing force from a ship to the shore. Its hull is made to float, in the water it moves by waterjets and after landing it goes on over land as an ordinary tracked carrier. It carries its own defensive armament in a small turret and at the rear it has a ramp for the detachment carried to get out quickly. The Japan Ground Self-Defense Force took this type into service in connection with building up amphibious capabilities; the vehicle is used by a number of other users around the world and is among the most widespread machines of its class.
The model is a display piece, not a building project. The tracked running gear and the rear part have many fine details that are easily damaged during handling, so take the model by the hull and rather do not carry it about often. Dust settled between the road wheels and on the tracks is harder to remove from a finished model than from one you built yourself, so a closed display case pays off. The color form and the markings come from the factory.
The model is supplied assembled and painted. It is not a kit, and you need neither glue nor paints for it.
