A kit of the British Rolls-Royce armored car of the First World War. The parts join together without gluing.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Rolls-Royce armored car came about at the beginning of the First World War by converting a civilian chassis of the same make. An armored hull was added around the crew, and on it a rotating turret with a machine gun. The car was fast and reliable for its time, and it therefore stayed in service long after the end of the war as well, among other places in desert conditions, where the advantage of its simple mechanics showed itself.
The silhouette betrays its origin in a luxury automobile: a long hood with the radiator at the front, behind it a tall angular hull and on the roof a low cylindrical turret. The spoked wheels and the full fenders are among the things you notice first on the finished model, so it pays to take trouble over them during the build.
It is a kit of plastic parts that join together without gluing. You therefore build the model yourself, but you need no glue for it. The exact extent of the set, the number of parts and the sequence of steps are given by the manufacturer's instructions enclosed with the package.
Work step by step according to the instructions and push the parts home evenly, so that the joint seats over its whole area. Because there is no gluing, a part seated wrongly can be taken back off and fitted again. Set the finished model down by the hull, not by the turret or the fenders.
The set suits those who want to build historical machinery without glue and paints, and also as a build shared with a less experienced builder.
A display case, a stand and other extras are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
