A resin accessory set in 1:35 scale from ELEFANT. It is not a vehicle kit but a replacement for the idler wheels for one model of the Jagdpanzer 38 tank destroyer. The casting captures the sharp edges of the lightening holes and the profile of the rim, that is the places where the simplification of injection-molded plastic shows most on a model.
The Jagdpanzer 38 was built on the modified chassis of the Panzer 38(t) light tank and from 1944 became one of the most numerous German tank destroyers. The 7.5 cm gun sat in a front plate with a pronounced armor slope, the drive sprocket was at the front and the idler at the rear. The rear idler wheel kept the track in tension and its construction was simplified during series production; the late version used lightened discs with holes. This set matches the variant with eight holes.
Wash the castings in lukewarm water with detergent to remove the mold release agent. Cut the casting block off with a fine saw or a cutting disc and level the remainder with a file; sand wet or with a respirator, as resin dust should not be inhaled. They are bonded with super glue; cement for plastic does not work here. Before gluing, try the wheel dry so that it sits in line with the drive sprocket and the road wheels and the track keeps the right sag. Start the painting with a primer and at the end add dust and mud with pigments or enamel effects; on a wheel the edges of the holes and the hub work hardest.
