A finished collector's model in 1:200 scale: a section of the flight deck of the aircraft carrier CVN-65 and, with it, the carrier fighter aircraft F-14A of the VF-1 squadron nicknamed Wolfpack.
Responsibility details are not available.
The designation CVN-65 belongs to the American aircraft carrier Enterprise, the first nuclear-powered aircraft carrier in the world. It entered service in 1961 and lasted in it for over fifty years, so several generations of carrier aircraft succeeded one another on its deck. Among them was the F-14 Tomcat, a two-seat fighter aircraft with a variable-geometry wing, recognizable by its two vertical tail surfaces and the pair of engine nacelles set far apart.
A finished collector's model, so nothing is built or glued. The set joins one section of the flight deck, listed as section B, with an F-14A aircraft in the markings of the VF-1 squadron nicknamed Wolfpack. The deck sections are distinguished by letters and the manufacturer makes twelve of them, from A to L. Placed side by side they make up the whole deck, so they can be collected part by part.
The deck section has a flat underside and will take even an ordinary shelf with no stand. You will sweep the dust off the small parts of the aircraft better with a soft brush than with a cloth, which catches on the antennas and the landing gear. Neither the shades of the deck nor the low-visibility national insignia are fond of direct sunlight, so place the model further from a window. Lift it by the deck section, not by the aircraft.
For a collector of carrier aviation who wants to have the Tomcat together with a piece of the deck it took off from, and for anyone who is putting the deck together gradually from the individual sections. The other deck sections and further aircraft are sold separately, unless stated otherwise.
