A finished collector's model from the Forces of Valor brand. The package joins a cut-out of the flight deck of the aircraft carrier CVN-65 designated as section L with a model of the carrier fighter aircraft F-14A in the colors of the VF-31 Tomcatters squadron. It is not a kit — the model is assembled, painted and ready for display right away. The deck sections are distinguished by letters in the line, so several pieces allow a longer cut-out of the deck with a number of machines to be put together.
The F-14 was an American two-seat carrier fighter aircraft with a variable-geometry wing. The sweep of the wing changed in flight according to speed, so the machine managed a slow approach to the deck and flight at high speed alike. It was powered by two engines and carried a radar able to track several targets at once; the A version was the first production form. The CVN-65 was the first nuclear-powered aircraft carrier in the world and stayed in service from the beginning of the 1960s until 2012. The VF-31 Tomcatters squadron belongs among the long-known units of carrier aviation and its striking markings are a favorite among collectors.
The model belongs in a display case or on a shelf away from direct sunlight, as ultraviolet light changes the shade of the paint and of the printing over time. Sweep the dust away with a soft brush or a blower bulb, not with a cloth, so that it does not catch on the antennas and small protrusions. While moving it, take hold of the assembly by the deck plate, not by the aircraft; the most sensitive parts are the landing gear and the wing joint. Wipe fingerprints off dry with a fine microfiber cloth.
