The accessory 1:72 US Combat Boots M43 is modeling equipment, not a kit. It is a scaled-down pair of American field boots in 1:72 scale, which suit the detailing of figures and serve as a small prop in a scene, for example set aside by a bed, on the bed of a vehicle or with the equipment of a camp. In 1:72 scale these are very small parts, but they add credibility to a scene.
Boots of the M43 pattern differed from the older low laced boots in their extended leather cuff, which two buckles wrapped around. They thus replaced the combination of a low boot and separate gaiters: the footwear was quicker to put on and protected the calf better. Characteristic of them are precisely the buckles and the taller instep, which are clearly recognizable in miniature and distinguish this pattern from earlier and later field boots.
Separate the parts with a sharp scalpel on a cutting mat, not with pliers, so that they do not fly off. Cut the residues left from manufacture off and sand the mating surface down with the finest sandpaper. Degrease the surface before painting. It pays off to paint before gluing, with the part held on a wooden stick with double-sided tape: a leather base shade, a wash into the recesses around the buckles and the sole, a fine accentuation of the edges with a dry brush and finally a matte varnish. Use super glue to attach it.
The accessory is supplied unpainted. The figure, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
