The Japanese manufacturer Tamiya has brought the popular Honda Dax125 minibike into 1:12 scale, in a release designated in the name as a limited edition. The kit follows on from the motorcycle range that earned the brand its reputation for trouble-free buildability and clean, exact moldings.
The Honda Dax made its name as far back as the turn of the 1960s and 1970s as a small motorcycle with an unmistakable pressed-steel backbone frame, whose elongated silhouette resembles a dachshund, hence the name. The modern Dax 125 has revived that shape: an air-cooled single, a long seat for two and high-set handlebars make the retro machine a playful companion around town that wins sympathy at first glance.
Start with the engine and the frame, paint the bodywork parts beforehand and fit them only at the end. Glossy surfaces are helped by a polished undercoat and a clear coat; with the chromed parts, watch out for fingerprints. Settle the decals on a gloss surface and press them down gently with a soft cloth.
The package contains an unassembled and unpainted model; paints and glue are not included in the delivery.
