Top Studio MP4/6 Radiator and ECU Super Detail-up Set is a detailing set for the radiators and the control unit of a model of the McLaren MP4/6 Formula 1 car in 1:12 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
An accessory from the Japanese brand Top Studio to a plastic kit of the McLaren MP4/6 Formula 1 car in 1:12 scale. It is not a model of the car, but a set for working two particular assemblies up: the radiators in the sidepods and the electronic control unit with the wiring that follows from it. Both are clearly visible on a model with the body exposed, and plastic runs into the limit of its possibilities here.
The real subject
The McLaren MP4/6 was the Formula 1 car of the McLaren team for the 1991 season with a Honda twelve-cylinder engine. On the cars of that day the radiators were housed in the sidepods and their fine finning can hardly be molded faithfully from plastic. The control unit is then among the features that make a Formula 1 car a technically complex whole.
The photo-etched core of the radiator is the most sensitive part of the whole set: nip it out against a hard base, deburr the remainders of the tabs and proceed slowly with the bending along the engraved grooves, because a mesh bent too far can no longer be straightened. If the set contains resin parts, wash the mold release agent off them in lukewarm soapy water and cut the casting blocks off with a saw. It is bonded with super glue in small doses. A radiator benefits from a darker base and a light pass of a metallic shade sprayed from a greater distance, so that the depth of the fins is brought out. We recommend assembling the wiring to the control unit dry and fixing it only after checking the route.
This is an accessory to a plastic kit. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
