This is not a model but a single detail part for one. The oxygen sensor, also called a lambda sensor, is a probe in the exhaust pipe that reads the composition of the gases. On the real racing machine a thin cable runs from it to the control unit, and it is exactly this detail that makes a big difference on a model in 1:12 scale: the engine area stops looking like a smooth casting and starts to look like a live machine with plumbing.
What the set solves
Kits either leave the sensor out altogether or suggest it with a small bump and no cable. A separate part lets you fit the probe into the exhaust in the right place and run the cable from it. On a model displayed without its fairing the area around the exhaust headers is clearly visible, and small probes with their wiring are among the first things an expert notices.
Mark the place for the sensor before you paint the exhaust and drill the hole with a micro drill so that the plastic does not tear. Seat the part perpendicular to the pipe; a sensor at an angle is conspicuous. Glue it with super glue applied a drop at a time with a toothpick. Do the painting away from the model: the body of the probe will take a dark metallic shade, and the area around the exhaust is usually heat-discolored, so subtle transitional tones on the headers will support the result. Run the cable from the sensor in a natural curve rather than taut, and fix it at the points where the real machine would have a clip.
