1:48 Su-30MKK brings colored 3D-printed interior elements on decal paper. They replace the flat parts of the kit in both cockpits of this two-seat aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
A modern combat aircraft has a cockpit full of displays, panels and controls, and this is exactly the place where a plastic kit most often falls short. The set from Quinta Studio deals with the detail by a different route than photo-etch: the elements are printed three-dimensionally, colored right away and laid on decal paper, so they are transferred into an assembled cockpit with water.
The Su-30MKK is a two-seat multirole variant derived from the Su-27 family, with the cockpit arranged in tandem. For a modeler that means twice the work, because both positions have their own instrument fit and are clearly visible under the long glazing. Drawing the dial faces by hand on two panels is a lengthy job and the result tends to be uneven, whereas printed elements hold the same quality at the front and at the back.
Assemble the cockpit and paint it in the base shade, and sand the areas under the elements smooth. Brush a gloss varnish over them and let it cure; the element has no adhesive layer of its own and holds precisely on the gloss. Release the element after about fifteen seconds in lukewarm water, seat it and press it down gently with a cotton swab. Do not use a decal softener or a decal fixer, as their chemicals attack the printed resin and ruin the element. Finally, unify the whole interior with a matte varnish, and bring out the edges with a dry brush if you want to.
This is an accessory to a kit, not a model of the aircraft. The kit, paints and varnishes are not included in the package.
