A conversion accessory for the model of the Boeing 737-800 in 1:144 scale, which brings the machine into the form known as the Special Freighter. The starting model is the Zvezda kit.
Passenger -800s are rebuilt into cargo machines by several competing programs and the differences between them are not negligible. They differ in the dimensions and the exact placement of the cargo door, in the treatment of the frame around the opening and in the extent of the blanked-off windows. For the builder that means the variants are not interchangeable: if you are building a particular machine of a particular carrier, you first have to find out which program it went through. The set marked SF aims at exactly one of these routes.
Before cutting, trace the outline of the door with a fine marker and do a trial fit. Finish the corners of the opening with a file rather than a knife, so that no cracks form. On the real aircraft the frame around the door stands out slightly, so emphasize it with a fine wash after painting; at this scale it is enough to suggest it. Before you reach for the knife, go through the documentation of the machine you want to build and mark the position of the opening on both sides of the fuselage.
