An injection-molded plastic kit of the Boeing E-3 Sentry airborne early warning and control aircraft in its modern AWACS version, in 1:144 scale from Academy. The real subject is the military adaptation of the Boeing 707 airliner with its characteristic rotating radar dish, the rotodome, above the fuselage. The manufacturer states finely engraved panel lines, the option of building the landing gear extended or retracted, and several marking options.
The Boeing E-3 Sentry is an airborne early warning and control aircraft developed from the Boeing 707 jet airliner. Above the fuselage it carries a large rotating radar dish whose sensors can track hundreds of air targets at once and provide command and control of the battle situation in real time. The Sentry serves with the US Air Force and in multinational forces and ranks among the best known aircraft of its category.
Use liquid cement for plastic and work the fuselage joints carefully, because on 1:144 models they show the most. Fit and paint the rotodome and its supports separately. Lay a primer before painting, spraying with an airbrush is ideal, and with the predominantly gray and metallic shades take care to get a smooth base. Masking the cabin glazing is worth doing for clean transitions.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
