A resin set of CFM56-7B engine nacelles for the Boeing 737-600, 737-700 and 737-800 in 1:144 scale from the manufacturer LACI. A detail accessory for building the more modern generation of the 737 range, not a model of the aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
A resin accessory for models of the next generation Boeing 737 in 1:144 scale. It replaces the engine nacelle from a kit with a casting with a more accurate profile of the intake and more legible dividing lines of the cowling. The set is intended for finishing a model under construction.
The CFM56-7B is a development continuation of the engine from the previous generation of the 737, not merely a redesignation of it. It was given a larger and aerodynamically reworked fan with wide-chord blades, a modified core and more modern control. The result is higher thrust over a wide range, lower consumption and a longer time between overhauls. Because of the small ground clearance under the wing the nacelle stayed flattened underneath, but the shape of the flattening is different from its predecessor and the whole cowling is longer and fuller. That matters for the modeler, because a nacelle from a model of the older generation does not match the shape on an aircraft of the next generation, even though at first glance it looks similar. The same type of aircraft moreover differed in the version of the engine within the same family according to the order of the operator, because the thrust range was chosen according to the takeoff weight and the routes.
Rid the casting of the mold release agent, otherwise paint holds badly on the surface. Cut the casting remnants away with a saw as far as possible from the edge of the intake and finish with fine wet sanding paper. Unlike plastic, resin cannot be chemically attacked, so super glue is what holds the joints. Check the joint of the nacelle with the pylon dry from several angles; the next generation nacelle is longer and the difference in installation is visible when seen from the front. Paint the inside of the intake and the fan cone before the final assembly.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted, as a resin casting for more experienced modelers. Glue, paints and a base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
