Detailing parts from the Japanese brand Top Studio intended to replace the wheel center lock nuts on a model of the Ferrari F2003-GA formula car in 1:20 scale. This is not a model or a complete set of wheels; they are replacement elements for a single assembly, the attachment of the wheel to the hub.
Why the wheel nuts in particular: on a formula car the center lock nut on the outer side of the wheel is impossible to overlook. It tends to be set apart by color, it has a prominent shape and on a model the viewer sees it from all four sides. A production plastic part, meanwhile, tends to be only a simplified cylinder with suggested edges.
The replacement nuts are fitted at the end of the build, after the wheels and the rims have been varnished. On a finished model they create a sharply defined feature that contrasts with the smooth surface of the rim, and together with the brakes and the drive shafts they are among the simplest ways to raise the level of the chassis.
First try the hole in the rim dry and if need be widen it carefully with a tapered reamer, not with a drill, as a drill likes to bite the edge away. Degrease the parts, varnish them with a base color and bond them with super glue applied with the tip of a wire, so that an excess does not run onto the varnished surface of the rim. Check the color distinction of the nuts beforehand against a photograph of the particular car, because it differs from race to race.
This is not a kit of a model or a complete set of wheels. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
