1:35 Soviet and Russian wooden boxes for 100 mm tank ammunition are an accessory from PANZER ART. They fill dioramas, cargo beds and superstructures where a bare surface would look empty.

This set from PANZER ART is neither a kit nor a toy but a diorama accessory in 1:35 scale. These are scaled-down wooden transport boxes in which 100 mm tank ammunition was delivered. On a model you will use them wherever you need to bring scale and life into a scene: on the rear of a vehicle, on the bed of a truck, at an artillery position or simply on the ground next to figures.
The Soviet 100 mm tank gun was the main armament of the postwar generation of medium tanks, and its rounds were carried in wooden boxes of a characteristic elongated shape with ironbound corners and handles. That shape is legible and recognizable on a diorama, so the scene gains its period and national setting at once. The boxes are also a rewarding subject for practicing wood texture: planks, knots, scuffs and marks left by handling.
Bond the boxes with super glue; ordinary plastic cement does not hold on other materials. Spray the parts with primer before painting. Wood is best built up from a light base, over which thin darker lines are drawn along the grain, and the whole is then tied together with a brown wash that runs into the gaps between the planks. Do the lettering and markings with a fine brush or with a decal from another set. A light dry brush at the end helps to bring out the edges and the ironwork.
