Thirteen-inch JBW Superlight 2 wheels for models of the classic Mini in 1:24 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The small British car with a transversely mounted engine has its wheelbase stretched right into the corners of the body and its overhangs cut to a minimum. The wheel is therefore more visible on it than on any other car of its day: it makes up almost a quarter of the length of the side. A size of thirteen inches is the upper limit for this subject of what will fit into the wheel arch without widening the lips.
When the wheel grows, the gap above it thins and the whole body visually settles toward the ground without the suspension moving. At the same time it becomes clear that the original lips above the wheels are narrow, and that is where the typical look of modified cars with wide flares set out from the body comes from. A model with a thirteen-inch wheel therefore looks lower and wider, and it shows most in a three-quarter front view, when the front wheel reaches the outline of the fender.
Check the distance between the wheel and the inner wall of the wheel arch; with larger sizes it tends to be tight. A light spoked rim is best painted in two steps: first the overall metallic tone, then a darkening of the recesses between the spokes so that their profile stands out. The outer lip of the rim is often polished on this subject, so it is worth separating it from the body of the wheel with a sharp edge.
The manufacturer's range also holds related wheels from the same maker with a different number of spokes and a version with tires, so the build can be fine-tuned to a particular subject.
