BMW steel wheels 14 inches in diameter including tires, in 1:24 scale. A replacement for the kit wheels for civilian-minded builds.
Responsibility details are not available.
A steel wheel is the simplest form of a wheel: a pressed steel rim with holes for the bolts and with pressed detail, which on series cars was fitted to the basic equipment and used to be covered by a hubcap. Without the hubcap the wheel comes across as austere and matter-of-fact, which suits winter sets, utility-minded builds and cars in their original, unmodified state. The number 14 in the name gives the diameter of the rim in inches, that is just under 15 mm in 1:24 scale.
According to the name, both the steel rims in the BMW pattern and the tires are included. The set thus replaces a whole wheel from a kit, shoes and all. The extent of the package, how the parts are divided and the recommended glue are given in the instructions enclosed by the manufacturer.
Seat the wheel dry and check that it fits into the arch and that the track matches the model. Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little from the part and sand the remainder so that the wheel seats perpendicular. Wash and degrease before painting. The rim is painted separately from the tire, so apply the paint to the rim before you put the wheel together. The tire should not be pure black; a dark gray shade with a matte surface looks more faithful.
The set is for modelers who build civilian automobiles in 1:24 scale and want wheels in the basic form. It is an accessory to building a model: paints, glue and tools do not belong to it, unless stated otherwise.
