Hobby Design offers a set of photo-etched parts for a model of the Ferrari F10 single-seater in 1:24 scale, according to the name intended for the kit of the Revell brand. The package is not a separate model of a formula car; it is an extra that will give a kit already owned a fineness of detail that injection-molded plastic will not offer by itself.
The Ferrari F10 is the car with which Scuderia Ferrari drove the Formula 1 season of 2010. Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa took turns at the wheel; Alonso won with the car at his very first start for the Italian stable in Bahrain, and the team fought for the world champion title with it right up to the last race of the season in Abu Dhabi. The characteristic red coloring with white accents is among the best known forms of modern formula cars, and on a model it stands out especially in combination with fine metal details.
Separate the photo-etch with a scalpel on a glass or cutting mat and take the traces of the tabs down with a fine abrasive stone. Tweezers and a straight edge will make the shaping easier; glue small parts with cyanoacrylate drop by drop, and with parts near clear areas choose PVA glue rather, which does not attack the plastic. Degrease the metal before spraying and lay a thin layer of primer under it, so that the final shade sits evenly and does not peel off.
