An injection-molded plastic kit from the Japanese firm Hasegawa in 1:24 scale, from its range of historic automobiles. It captures the late form of the first-generation Mazda RX-7, sold on the Japanese market under the name Savanna RX-7 and with the internal designation SA22C, specifically the turbocharged Turbo GT version from 1983. The manufacturer also issues the early version of the same car, so a buyer can choose the form according to the year.
The Savanna RX-7 appeared at the end of the 1970s and became the most successful bearer of the Wankel rotary engine in the brand's history. The two-rotor unit was very compact and light, which allowed the designers to move it deep behind the front axle and achieve a balanced weight distribution. You will recognize the body by its pop-up headlights and the flowing tail with its large glazed area. During production the car went through a facelift and the range was widened by a turbocharged variant, which was among the most powerful configurations of the whole line.
Join the plastic parts with a thin cement for plastic. Before the finish, sand the surfaces and spray on a filler primer, because a glossy finish will mercilessly show every groove. Apply the color with an airbrush in thin coats, settle the decals only on a glossy base and seal them with a covering layer. The pop-up headlights, the window frames and the trim strips call for precise work with a brush or with a thin mask. The interior and the engine bay come off better in matte and semi-matte shades, and the tires should be toned down with a light matting.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
