An injection-molded plastic set of the American AMT brand in 1:25 scale, which the manufacturer lists as three complete kits in one box. From it you build a customized 1975 Chevrolet Van, a race boat and a two-wheel trailer on which the boat is carried. The van has cast wheels, side exhausts, round side windows, sport seats, a custom steering wheel and auxiliary lights; the boat offers an optional treatment of the engine intake. The set contains white, chrome, clear, transparent red and transparent orange parts, metal axles, black rubber tires and an extended sheet of waterslide decals.
The 1970s were the period of van culture in the USA: ordinary utility vans turned into brightly painted vehicles with carpeted interiors and airbrushed murals. Anyone who had a race boat to go with it carried it exactly like this, that is, behind the van on an open trailer. The set makes it possible to build this whole rig as a single scene.
The key is to bring the three models together into one composition: choose a common color line and the same accent shades for the van and the hull of the boat, so that the rig looks like a whole. The hull of the boat deserves a deep gloss, so sand and polish the varnish gradually through finer grits and finish with polishing compound. The van, by contrast, takes period graphics from the decals, or fine shade transitions. Build the trailer on a flat surface, so that it does not sit askew, and fit the axles with wheels only after the frame has been painted.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
