A masking set made of self-adhesive vinyl film, supplied as a sheet with pre-cut straight stripes. The widths are graded from 7.1 mm to 8.0 mm in 0.1 mm steps, which gives ten different widths; each stripe is 200 mm long. The thin, pliable film follows even a slightly rounded surface and holds the edge once pressed down, so paint does not run under the mask. The product falls into a universal masking line intended for spraying straight lines on any model. The maker is the Czech brand Armycast, which offers universal masks alongside its sets of aircraft national insignia.

Use

• Choose a stripe of the width you need, peel it off the sheet and lay it on a degreased, dry base coat.
• Press the edge of the mask down with a toothpick or a wooden stick; cover the surrounding area with masking tape or film.
• Spray in thin coats and at right angles to the edge of the mask, so that paint does not get under the film.
• Typical application: color stripes on fin surfaces and engine cowlings.
• Lift the mask off while the paint is still freshly touch-dry, pulling back over itself at an angle.

Who the set is for

For modelers who want their stripes sprayed rather than applied as decals. A sprayed band has the same texture and sheen as the surrounding finish, makes no step and takes later weathering and matting. Grading in 0.1 mm steps makes it possible to hit the right stripe width in a given scale without compromise, so the set serves equally well on aircraft, military vehicles and ship models. It will be appreciated above all by those who spray with an airbrush and deal with precise boundaries between colors.

It is a masking supply, not a model. Paints, glue and the model itself are not included in the package. Apply the masks only to a fully cured base, otherwise the paint may be pulled off.
