An injection-molded plastic car kit in 1:24 scale from the Japanese maker Aoshima. The model depicts the Nissan Fairlady Z of the S30 generation in a modified guise with aerodynamic add-ons, marked as version 2 and as it was in 1975. Aoshima releases several similar S30 versions, so tell them apart by the tuner, the version designation and the model year in the name.
The Fairlady Z of the S30 generation was built from the late 1960s and is one of the most important Japanese sports cars of all: a long hood, a flowing rear end and an inline six-cylinder at the front. On export markets it was sold under the Datsun name and it made Japanese coupes an equal rival to the European competition. In Japan itself a strong scene of period modifications grew up around it: widened arches, a front spoiler, a pronounced rear wing and deep wheels. It is precisely such a guise that the model captures.
Try the body add-ons dry before you reach for the glue, because with aerodynamic kits the symmetry of the two sides and a clean seam are what count. Do the finish over primer; period shades tend to be saturated single colors, so every unevenness shows and sanding between coats pays off. Wheels with a deep lip show to advantage if you shade the rim differently from the center. Do the chrome trim and the window frames with foil or a fine brush. Glue the glazing at the end with glue for clear parts and back the headlights with silver.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
