An injection-molded plastic kit of the classic Japanese Nissan Skyline 2000 GT-R Hard Top (KPGC10) sports car in 1:24 scale, from the Sports Car Series range of Tamiya. The model captures the two-door body nicknamed the Hakosuka with its period tuning parts. The S20 DOHC inline six is done in detail, and a driver figure, glazing, chrome parts and decals are usually available too. Check the instructions for the exact contents of the package; neither paints nor glue are included.
The GT-R version with a fixed roof (hard top) was introduced in 1970 and was powered by the tuned S20 DOHC inline six, derived from the Nissan R380 racing prototype. Together with the older four-door sedan the car took a whole string of victories and became a racing legend still revered in Japan today. The nickname Hakosuka came from joining the word hako (a box, after the angular shape) with the local name for the Skyline.
Spray the body with an airbrush over a thin primer and polish the gloss shade. Detail the S20 engine and the interior before closing up; bring out the chrome trim and the bumpers, and mask the glazing. The eight-spoke racing wheels and the front spoiler give the car its period look. Use liquid modeling cement on the plastic joints, and seal the decals with a clear coat.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
