Recaro seats in the Spirit R version for building the interiors of models in 1:24 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The German firm Recaro grew out of a coachbuilding shop in Stuttgart and has supplied sport seats to series cars and racing teams alike since the 1960s. Its products appeared regularly in the special editions with which carmakers said goodbye to a model nearing its end, and one of the best known such farewells arrived in 2002 from Hiroshima.
The last series coupe with a rotary engine was given a pair of buckets in a deep red form in its cabin, with high side support and with openings for the belts in the upper part of the backrest. The shade became the mark of the whole version. On a model it has the same role: an interior unified in black looks empty, while two red seats bring it to life at once and give it depth.
Red covers badly and a light base belongs under it, ideally gray or sand. Apply the top shade in thin coats until the surface evens out. Darken the openings for the belts from inside and pick the side edges out carefully with a dry brush with a little white added.
The buckets are narrow and in a tight cabin they are easily seated too far from the tunnel. Try them dry with the instrument panel fitted as well, otherwise it can happen that the finished interior will not slide into the body.
The package contains the seats, not the belts, the instrument panel or the kit of the car.
The last touches decide: a matte clear coat evens the surface out, whereas shine left on it gives the plastic away. The seams on the seating surface can be suggested with a sharply sharpened pencil run along a ruler, lightly and in a single stroke.
