A detail set in 1:24 scale from the Polish brand Yamamoto Model Parts. It replaces or completes the rear part of the exhaust route of a model with a sports muffler with a striking tip. It is an accessory to a car model, not a kit of a car, and it assumes work on the underside of a model that is already being built.
The exhaust is one of the first things a viewer notices on a tuned model, because it is the only visible part of the drivetrain that protrudes from under the bumper. A sports muffler with a large tip changes the character of a car even with no further work on the body, and it gives a modeler a reason to finish the underside as well, which on boxed kits tends to be only suggested.
Wash the parts, rid them of casting remains and smooth the surface with fine sandpaper. For a metal look the base is crucial: metallic and chrome paints look good only on a smooth glossy base, and on a matte grainy surface they lose their shine. Deal with the body of the muffler in a darker steel color and the tip a step lighter and polished. Credibility comes from heat discoloration at the outlet, which is applied in thin coats with very thinned brown and blue-violet shades, and from soot inside the tip, for which black pigment applied dry with a brush is enough. So that the part follows on from the surface around it, line its axis up with the floor of the car before gluing: stand the model on a flat board, hold the muffler in place and check that the tip comes out from under the bumper parallel with it and at the same height on both sides. Only then glue it with super glue.
The accessory is supplied unpainted and without a kit of the vehicle. Glue, paints and further parts are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
