An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:24 scale from the Japanese manufacturer Hasegawa. The real subject is the Toyota Celica GT-Four in its RC version, that is in the homologation form Toyota built in order to run the car in Group A. The addition in the name points to the form with a lip spoiler, and that is a distinguishing detail against the other packages of the Celica GT-Four.
The Celica GT-Four is the version of the Celica with a turbocharged gasoline four-cylinder and all-wheel drive, built for competition use. The RC form was a limited homologation series that met the requirement for a minimum number of production cars built; on some markets it was sold under other names and it is prized among collectors today. In its day the Celica GT-Four was among the most technically ambitious Japanese cars: the combination of a turbo engine, all-wheel drive and a fairly compact body made it a fast machine and one usable off-road.
This car stands or falls with the right contrast of surfaces. The body wants a rich gloss finish, but on the real subject the wheel arch trims, the spoiler and the lower parts tend to be more matte; the difference between a gloss and a satin paint does more than the finest finish over the whole car. Glue the lip spoiler on only once the body is painted, and degrease the edge to be glued beforehand. The wheels and brakes deserve attention of their own, because on a car with all-wheel drive they are very much on show. Glue the glazing with an adhesive for clear parts.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
