1:48 P-47D Seat with white textil seat belts and buckles

Resin P-47D seat in 1:48 scale with white textile belts

This accessory set by the Czech manufacturer Art Scale replaces the pilot's seat in the cockpit of a P-47D Thunderbolt model in 1:48 scale. Textile belts in a white form and buckles are included, so the resulting interior looks more convincing than a plastic part with the belts cast in relief. A textile belt can be shaped and drapes naturally over the edge of the seat, which tells at once in a photograph of a finished model. It is not an aircraft model but a cockpit accessory.

How to work with the accessory

• First wash the castings in lukewarm water with detergent so that the remains of the mold release agent come off.
• Cut the casting blocks away with a saw or a knife; do not snap them, as resin cracks.
• Do the sanding wet and with your airways protected, as resin dust is not to be inhaled.
• Join the parts with cyanoacrylate glue, that is super glue, as ordinary cement for plastic has no effect on resin.
• Paint the seat before fitting the belts, as the brushwork is then considerably easier.
• Draw the belts into a natural shape with tweezers and fix them in spots, so that they stay pliable as long as possible.

Who the set is for

• Builders of P-47D models in 1:48 scale who are after cockpit detail
• Modelers who want an open cockpit and convincing belts
• More experienced modelers used to working with resin
• Photographers of finished models, where the interior is seen close up
