1:32 MiG-21MF exhaust nozzle in the closed position is a resin replacement part that captures the geometry of the variable nozzle more precisely than a split plastic molding.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a detail accessory for an aircraft model, not the model itself. The nozzle is cast in resin in one piece, so it carries none of the parting line that a plastic part made of two shells has. It shows most of all at the tail of a fighter, because an open nozzle leads the eye inside and every step or imperfect joint is visible. This version matches the position with the petals drawn in, as the engine has it when shut down or running without afterburner.
The MiG-21 is among the most widely used supersonic fighters ever built, and the MF version is one of its most numerous and most widespread forms, with a more powerful engine and the option of carrying ground attack stores under the wing. Its rear fuselage is made up of practically the whole engine bay, and the nozzle with its movable petals changes section according to the power setting. In photographs of aircraft parked on the ramp the nozzle is usually in exactly this drawn-in position.
Wash the casting first in warm water with a little detergent so that no mold release agent is left on the surface. Separate the casting block with a fine saw and then level the surface with wet sandpaper, protecting your breathing as you go. Paint the inside of the nozzle before you close the part into the fuselage, because you will not reach it afterward. Choose the shade in graded metallic tones with a trace of blue-violet cast at the outlet, where the material ran hottest. Add fine vertical streaks of a lighter shade to the outer petals so that their structure stands out.
