A set of self-adhesive pre-cut masks for a model of the B-25H Mitchell bomber in 1:32 scale. This is the single-sided version, that is masks for the outer side of the glazing. The masks are an accessory for a model; the aircraft itself is not included. The cut is worked out for the HK Models kit.
The Mitchell has a great deal of glazing indeed: the pilot's cockpit, side windows, the upper turret, the tail station and observation ports. In 1:32 scale every frame is large, right in front of the eye, and any inaccuracy shows at once. Masking such an aircraft by hand can take a whole evening, and one stray cut is enough to leave a frame half a millimeter wider than the one beside it. Pre-cut masks remove that problem: they fit the outlines of the part exactly, hold a constant frame width and leave a clean edge with no bleeding once lifted off.
Clean and degrease the glazing first. Lift the mask from the backing with tweezers, seat it on the part and press it down with a soft tool from the center toward the edges, so that no air is left under it. Spray the frames first with the interior color, then with the exterior shade - the transition then looks the same as on the real aircraft. Lift the mask off shortly after the paint is dry, not after several days, and do it carefully at a sharp angle. Lukewarm water will remove any adhesive residue.
