This is an accessory for a kit, not a model of an aircraft. The set contains pre-cut self-adhesive masks for the Tamiya 60326 kit, specifically for the machine with the marking LR303. Otherwise identical sets exist for further machines of the same type, so the marking of the machine is the only thing that tells them apart; before ordering, therefore, check which scheme you want to build.
The templates are cut to shape, so the tedious cutting of strips from masking tape is no longer needed. The edges come out straight and without steps, and paint does not seep under a mask that has been pressed down well. At the large 1:32 scale it is precisely the quality of the edges that sets a carefully built model apart.
The de Havilland Mosquito FB Mk.VI was the fighter-bomber version of the British twin-engine aircraft with a largely wooden airframe. It was powered by a pair of Rolls-Royce Merlin V-12 engines, and the crew of two sat side by side in the forward part of the fuselage. The divided cockpit glazing and the extensive areas of the fuselage are among the most laborious parts of painting this type.
Wash the surface in lukewarm water with detergent and let it dry out thoroughly, as a mask does not hold on greasy varnish. Transfer it with tweezers and press it down with a toothpick, especially in the corners. With masks for markings, stick them onto a surface sealed with a thin layer of gloss varnish and spray over the edge with the color of the base first; any seepage then does not show on the color of the design. Spray perpendicularly and in several light coats. Lift the mask off while the paint has only just set, in a slanting pull, and count on a single use.
The set contains masking templates only. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
