A photo-etched set of colored seat belts from the Czech manufacturer Eduard in 1:32 scale, intended for the cockpit of the model of the Soviet fighter Polikarpov I-16 Type 24. The STEEL version means that the belts are made of a more flexible steel photo-etch and are pre-printed in color, so that once broken out and fitted they look very realistic with no need for further painting. The steel base holds its shape and is easy to form over the edges of the seat. It is not a model of an airplane but a detail accessory.
The Polikarpov I-16 was a Soviet single-seat fighter of the 1930s with retractable landing gear, one of the first of its kind. The Type 24 was among the later and higher-performing versions put into action at the start of the Second World War. The open cockpit with its well-visible seat is an ideal place for faithful seat belts.
Break the belts carefully out of the fret and form them with tweezers; the steel photo-etch holds a bend well. They are glued with a small amount of super glue. The color does not usually need adding to; at most pick out the buckles lightly. Work under good light, as the parts are small.
This is a photo-etched detail accessory, not a model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
