1:72 R-27ER (AA-10 Alamo-C), 4 pieces: Reskit resin guided missiles with the longer motor, an accessory for the stores of fighter models in 1:72 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The package contains four resin castings of R-27ER missiles in 1:72 scale. It is an armament accessory for a model already built or under way, not a kit in its own right. In this scale resin shows to advantage above all on the thin surfaces of the control fins and on the transitions between the sections of the body, where injection-molded plastic usually carries the parting line of the mold.
The R-27 family was conceived in modular form: the same body was combined with various seeker heads and with two lengths of rocket motor. The ER version is the one with semi-active radar guidance and a longer motor, and so with substantially greater range than the base R variant. Its NATO reporting name is Alamo-C. Semi-active guidance means that the target has to be illuminated by the launch aircraft's radar throughout the missile's flight. The longer motor body is clearly visible on a model too, which is why the ER and the R cannot be interchanged.
Wash the castings with lukewarm water and dish soap and let them dry. Separate the casting blocks by cutting with a fine saw rather than with pliers: on a long slender body there is a risk of cracking. Do the sanding wet and with your airways protected. Make the joints with cyanoacrylate glue; if you are hanging the missiles on pylons, leave the model in a clamp for a while or help yourself with the gel version of the glue, which gives you time to line things up. Lay down a primer before painting, because on smooth resin the paint otherwise rubs off easily. Emphasize the engraved lines with a thin wash and unify the whole with a matte varnish.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted, as a resin accessory. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
