1:32 USAF Aircraft Mechanic Korean War is a resin figure of a US Air Force aircraft mechanic from the beginning of the 1950s.
Responsibility details are not available.
This figure of ground personnel from the Aerobonus workshop rounds out the range of pilots with a figure who does work on the airfield that goes unseen but cannot be done without. The resin casting is supplied without paint and is meant to bring to life a scene around a machine standing still, where a model on its own, without a human figure, looks empty.
The maintenance crews of the American squadrons in Korea worked in conditions a long way from a factory hangar. Airfields designated by the letter K and a number were put up quickly, the surface was often of steel matting and froze over in winter, so engines were warmed up in the dark before the first takeoff. Mechanics in work overalls, peaked caps and gloves topped up the fuel, changed tires and hung the armament on machines that often came back damaged by anti-aircraft fire. A painted figure in working dress therefore gives a diorama a sense of scale and a story, and at the same time shows the viewer how big the aircraft being built really is.
The choice for builders of large models from the Korean War period and for anyone building an airfield scene in 1:32 scale. Paints and a base are not included in the package.
