ZIL-MMZ-555 interior, colored 3D decals (1:32, Quinta Studio)

A set of colored 3D decals for the cab interior of models of the Soviet ZIL-MMZ-555 dump truck in 1:32 scale. These are not cast resin parts or a photo-etched set: they are details printed on a carrier decal paper that slide off the paper in water and, with their colored raised printing, bring the dashboard, the instruments and the cab trim to life.

What it is for

3D decals replace laborious painting of tiny interior details. The instrument panel gains readable dials, levers and labels, and the result looks realistic without a photo-etched set or an airbrush.

Usage tips

• Clean and degrease the surface and go over it with gloss varnish (Future, Klear or Tamiya X-22).
• Cut the part out, soak it in lukewarm water for about fifteen seconds and slide it off the paper into place.
• It has no adhesive layer of its own and holds on the varnish; on uneven shapes a drop of cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) helps. Do not use decal softener, as it would damage the printed resin.
