An accessory set for a model of the helicopter assault ship ROKS Dokdo LPH-6111 in 1:700 scale from the manufacturer Artwox Model. The core of the set is thin photo-etched metal parts replacing simplified plastic features. It is not a kit and a model cannot be built from it: it serves to improve the finished Academy 14216 kit, for which it is cut. The premium version distinguishes this item from the basic one; the extent of both is stated on the box of the set.
A small scale is rewarding for accessories precisely because plastic runs into its limits here soonest. Railings, ladders, radar meshes and life rafts cannot be made in a scale thickness in an injection mold, so they look coarse. Thin metal sheet is an order of magnitude finer by comparison and the difference is visible at first glance. On a modern ship with an extensive flight deck and clean superstructures it shows especially markedly.
Cut the parts off with a sharp knife or with special scissors against a hard surface, and never break them out, as they would be deformed. Make the folds in a bending tool or at least between two blades, always along the lines marked. Glue with super glue applied on the tip of a piece of wire, or with a glue with an extended setting time, which allows a part still to be lined up. Degrease the metal before painting and spray it with a base coat intended for metal, otherwise the paint will not hold. Work over a surface with a raised rim so that parts flying off do not disappear on you. Fit the railings at the very end, after the deck has been painted.
This is an accessory for modelers. The ship kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
