Omask 1:48 CM 170 Fouga Magister wheel bay plugs is a masking accessory that covers the landing gear bays of a model of this French jet trainer during spraying.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a masking accessory by Omask, not a kit. The plugs are inserted into the open landing gear bays of a part-built model so that no paint gets into them during spraying and so that the shade applied in the bays earlier is preserved. The result is a clean border between the outer camouflage finish and the inside of the bay, which is hard to achieve with tape cut by hand.
The Fouga Magister was a French two-seat jet trainer that reached series production as one of the first machines of its category in the world. Its hallmarks are the butterfly V tail and the pair of small jet engines housed in the wing roots. The type served for decades in the training units of a whole range of European and non-European air forces, and in some of them it also filled a light attack role.
Spray the inside of the bays and let it cure thoroughly, and only then fit the plugs. Apply the covering paint on the outer surfaces in thin coats, because a heavy coat builds a ridge at the edge of the mask that shows once it is removed. Lift the mask out with tweezers at a sharp angle, preferably before the finish has hardened completely.
