A brick house ruin is one of the most rewarding subjects for dioramas from the European battlefield. Collapsed brickwork gives the scene height and depth while still letting whatever stands in front of it show. Exposed bricks, broken edges and crumbling plaster offer plenty of surfaces on which to show off work with paint and weathered finishes.
A base for a 1:35 scale diorama with the subject of a brick house ruin. It serves as ready-made groundwork for a scene, so there is no need to cut a board or build the brickwork from scratch. The dimensions and the exact composition are given by the manufacturer on the packaging.
Wash the base before painting and let it dry thoroughly, or the paint will hold unevenly on the surface. Cut away excess material and traces of manufacture with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the rest. Choose the glue according to the material the parts are made of. Brickwork benefits from a dark wash into the joints and from lightening the edges with a dry brush; dust, grit and dry grass then settle the scene into its surroundings.
For modelers who want to put a vehicle or figures in 1:35 scale into a setting rather than on a bare board, and for exhibitors who need a scene prepared quickly for a competition. It also serves as a practice area for brickwork painting and for trying pigments out without putting a finished model at risk.
Figures, vehicles, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
