The Soviet DP-27 light machine gun and its modernized version in 1:35 scale are a weapon accessory for figures and for vehicle interiors.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of weapon parts meant to complete figures and scenes. The name gives two designations of the same design, the original form and its later modernized version, so it covers both variants side by side. This is not a vehicle kit but an accessory that is fitted to already built models and figures.
The light machine gun of the designer Degtyarev was part of the basic infantry armament of Soviet units in the Second World War. Its unmistakable feature is the flat pan magazine fitted from above, to which the weapon owes its nickname after the gramophone record. The modernized variant from the later part of the war moved the return spring from the space under the barrel to the rear and altered the bipod, so the two forms can be told apart even by their silhouette.
Metal in a small scale does not look good in gloss. A proven procedure is a dark base, a fine rubbing of the edges with the lead of a soft pencil and a spot accent only where a hand would touch the weapon. The wooden parts of the gun stock call for a warmer tone with a hint of grain, otherwise they merge with the rest. A weapon laid beside a figure or leaned against the side of a vehicle enriches a scene more than when a figure merely holds it.
