This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:35 scale from Italeri captures the German Flakpanzer IV Ostwind anti-aircraft tank built on the proven Panzer IV chassis. According to the manufacturer the set contains either link tracks to assemble or rubber tracks to glue, and decals for two marking versions. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The Ostwind was a German anti-aircraft tank of the closing stage of the Second World War, which followed on from the earlier Wirbelwind. In its characteristic open hexagonal turret with an armored shield it carried a powerful anti-aircraft gun and could be used effectively not only against aircraft but also against ground targets in direct support of the infantry. Combining a mobile tank chassis with an anti-aircraft weapon was among the typical solutions of the end of the war.
On this vehicle it pays to assemble and fine-tune the running gear and the open turret with its gun before you close the whole thing up. Use liquid cement for plastic, treat the surface with a primer and spray with an airbrush. Fine-tune the open turret and the running gear with a wash and dust pigments for a realistic patina.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
