A diorama element in 1:35 scale from RT-Diorama. It is not a kit of a vehicle and not a finished building but a building accessory in its own right: a set of arched windows of the industrial type, which you set into the wall of a factory hall, a workshop or a warehouse. According to the name there are three pieces in the package.

What the windows are for in a scene

Window openings decide whether a building in a diorama comes across as a structure or as a set piece. Arched windows with divided glazing are typical of factory and station architecture of the end of the nineteenth and the first half of the twentieth century, so they fit wartime as well as civilian scenes. Three pieces are enough for a continuous band of front, and because the whole numbered range comes out in the same scale, the individual numbers can be lined up side by side and combined with gates of the same brand into one whole.

Tips for placing it in the scene

• Draw the opening in the wall out from the element, not the other way around - the seating will then fit with no joints.
• Seat the windows before you weather the front, so that the patina follows on from the surrounding masonry.
• Place a dark area or a suggestion of an interior behind the window opening; an empty opening gives away that the wall is just a board.
• The glazing and the bars stand out best when they are sunk a little way inside and are not flush with the outer surface.
