The decal set 1:35 Kiwi Armour, part one from Star Decals carries markings for New Zealand Shermans and the M31B1 recovery vehicle.
Responsibility details are not available.
The first part of the Kiwi Armour line in 1:35 scale is devoted to the special machines of the New Zealand armored units, that is Shermans and the M31B1 Tank Recovery Vehicle. New Zealand markings differ from the British ones and you will practically never find them in ordinary kits, so the set opens up a theme that is not overplayed at modeling competitions.
The New Zealand armored regiments were equipped with American Sherman tanks during the Second World War, and hardware for repairs and for towing damaged machines away served within them as well. The M31 recovery vehicle came about by converting the M3 Lee tank, whose armament was taken off and a boom with a winch added, while the M31B1 form was based on the M3A3 hull. Two completely different silhouettes therefore ran side by side within one unit, and that is exactly what makes the pair a rewarding theme for a cabinet and for a scene alike.
The tactical signs and numbers of armored units usually have a fixed place on the turret sides, on the fenders and at the rear. It therefore pays to find a matching photograph or drawing first, lay the markings out and only then apply them. Work on a smooth gloss base, line the designs up along the horizontal edges of the superstructure and flatten the model down once they have dried. Go through the manufacturer's instructions on handling the decals before you apply them.
The package holds decals. The model, the paints and the varnishes are not included, unless stated otherwise.
