An injection-molded plastic kit of the British desert patrol vehicle LRDG F30 Gun Truck in 1:35 scale from Thunder Model. It is a limited edition enriched with resin figures of the crew in combat poses. The vehicle stands on the chassis of the Canadian military truck CMP Ford F30 and carries a 20 mm Breda cannon at the rear. Check the exact package contents and markings against the enclosed instructions.
The LRDG (Long Range Desert Group) was a British reconnaissance and raiding unit that, during the war in North Africa, operated deep behind enemy lines across the Libyan desert. Its members were masters of desert navigation and survival. When the original Chevrolet vehicles wore out, the unit moved among other things to Canadian CMP Ford F30 trucks, which it modified in the field and armed with captured or available weapons such as the Italian 20 mm Breda cannon.
Assemble the chassis and the running gear, and only then the bodywork and the armament. Glue the plastic parts with liquid cement and the resin figures with super glue — wash them to remove the mold release agent before bonding. Apply a primer. Desert vehicles carried sand and brownish shades, often inconsistent and overpainted. Suggest heavy dusting, faded paint and chipped finish on the edges with pigments, filters and a dry brush — desert weathering is the key with this vehicle.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
