A resin wheel set in 1:35 scale for a model of the American M-ATV protected off-road vehicle, the type designated M1240. This is not a kit but a replacement for the plastic wheels on a finished model. Modern vehicles have large tires with a deep tread, and that is exactly what resin can capture more sharply than an injection mold.
The M-ATV came about as an answer to improvised explosive devices: it has a raised hull with a floor shaped to deflect the blast wave, strong suspension and a lot of travel. Compared with older heavy armored vehicles it is lighter and more mobile, so it can reach mountainous and broken terrain. Wheels with central inflation and the ability to keep going on a damaged tire are among its recognizable features.
Wash the castings in lukewarm soapy water and rid them of the mold release agent. Cut off the casting blocks with a saw, level the surface with a file and sand with respiratory protection. Resin is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Check the diameter of the stub on the axle before fitting. The bottom of the tire can be sanded slightly into a flat, because the vehicle is heavy. Pick up light dust in the deep tread, otherwise the wheel will look flat.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
