This resin set in 1:35 scale brings the applique armor plates that were fitted to M10 tank destroyers in the desert. It is not a kit, but an accessory for a finished model. The plates were laid against the hull and the turret, protected the crew and the running gear from splinters and at the same time changed the silhouette of the vehicle markedly, so an armored vehicle with them looks quite different from one in its basic form.
The M10 was an American tank destroyer on a medium tank chassis, with an open turret and a 3-inch gun. The open top gave the crew a view but left them vulnerable, so crews in the field added whatever was at hand. In the African and Mediterranean theaters, additional plating of every kind appeared, from regularly fitted plates to entirely improvised solutions.
Wash the castings in lukewarm water with detergent and remove the mold release agent. Cut off the casting blocks with a saw, true the surface with a file and protect your airways while sanding. Resin is bonded with super glue, that is, with cyanoacrylate. Offer the plates up dry first and mark the position, because once the glue has set they cannot be moved. It pays to paint them before gluing, so that a brush can reach into the gap between the plate and the hull.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
